1. Key Terms
Throughout this Privacy Notice we use some essential terms, which are define below:
Student – a prospective, enrolled or former student on Kaplan Pathways programmes or a student who Kaplan supports for their direct application to a university
Parent – a Student’s parent, who may be involved in supporting their education and welfare, whether the Student is under 18 of age or 18 or over. A parent of a Student under the age of 18 can make decisions on behalf of the Student
Legal Guardian – an individual who has been legally appointed to make decisions on behalf of a Student under the age of 18 through a formal court process. They hold legal responsibility for the Student’s care and welfare
UK Guardian – an organisation or a responsible adult, who are based in the United Kingdom and who act as a local point of contact and support for the Student during their studies. A UK Guardian is not the Student’s Legal Guardian, but is appointed to assist with urgent matters or welfare issues requiring local support
Sponsor – an individual, a government body or corporate organisation that is approved by Kaplan to contribute towards a student’s tuition fees and/or living costs whilst in the UK.
Guarantor – an individual who agrees to be responsible for a Student’s financial obligations in the event that the Student is unable to meet them in respect of their accommodation, such as rent payments
Agent – a third party individual or organisation engaged by Kaplan to promote our and our partners’ courses and assist prospective Students with their application and enrolment process. Agents advise Students on suitable study options, prepare and submit applications, support the visa process (when permitted) or liaise with institutions on behalf of the Student
Kaplan Pathways Programmes – programmes offered by Kaplan International Pathways
University Admission – where Kaplan supports the Student, their Agent and the Student’s Sponsor with the Student’s application directly to a university.
